This week in UOI.
We made parachutes with plastic bags. We were inquirers!
Does the parachute open?
Does it spin?
What could you do differently?
This week in math and literacy.
We read Elmer and Wilbur- All about patterns!
K1’s used a variety of materials to make their different patterns and they did a great job. We then read Elmer and Wilbur and created our own patterns on the elephants
We also counted numbers 1-10/20

An important note:
Benefits for Early Years of Learning Outside the Classroom
Learning outside the classroom supports the development of healthy and active lifestyles by offering children opportunities to become risk-takers.
Outside play is so important to children as it gives them so much freedom to explore ideas and concepts than inside a classroom where they sometimes afraid to be messy and loud and busy. Outdoor play allows children to build their gross motor skills by running, skipping, jumping, crawling, digging, squatting and skipping.
Outdoor learning also helps children to think conceptually and explore the world around them, like playing with water, sandpit, roleplay area, small world area, the creative area allows children to develop their reasoning, questioning, communication, and social skills.
Outdoor play also supports children’s problem-solving skills and nurtures their creativity, as well as providing rich opportunities for their developing imagination, inventiveness, and resourcefulness.
For many children, playing outdoors in their early years setting may be the only opportunity they have to play safely and freely while they learn to assess risk and develop the skills to manage new situations.
Please encourage and ask your child about their favourite area that they like exploring in our outdoor area.
