Integrity- Do the right thing!

There are 12 attitudes that help the student build their Learner Profile: Appreciation, Commitment, Creativity, Confidence, Curiosity, Cooperation, Empathy, Enthusiasm, Independence, Integrity, Respect, and Tolerance. This week we focused on showing INTEGRITY- do the right thing!

Students have been showing this attitude by tidying up after playing, following our morning routine and our Essential agreements.

I asked the children to illustrate what they did right this week!

This week in UOI

People who help us

When I grow up, I want to be...

We have started working on our class book

Students have been illustrating what they want to be when they grow up. They are being open-minded about different jobs people do and how they help us.

This week I also introduced students to our Student- Led Conferences. We had a lot of discussion about it and looked at our portfolios.  Students showed a lot of interest in what they want to show their parents.

As part of our Unit of Inquiry

Lines of Inquiry:
• Various communities we belong to (form)
• Roles of people who are part of our communities (function)
• How communities are organized (responsibility)

People play different roles in the communities to which they belong.

We discussed our lines of Inquiry on the roles of people who are part of our communities. We invited some of the local police officers and doctors to come and show us how they help us in our community. Students are now able to discuss and show enthusiasm on how each role works.

Here are the few pictures of today's day

Students asked great questions and showed their own police station they created in the classroom. It shows clearly they understand how communities are organised.

This week some students also visited people who help us at school as part of their apprenticeship

In Literacy and Math

- Matching objects to numbers
- Continue practise writing our names
- Jolly phonic sounds
-

We have also started meditation as part of our day every day. It is helping the students to be more balanced during their busy day. Students were quite reflective and feel better each day.

In their words "it is good for us after playing because it is hot"
